ASE Entry-Level Brakes: 5 Practice Questions Explained

Oct 15, 2026

Brakes is a common first area. These original questions mirror the task areas.

  1. Before diagnosing a brake complaint, which step comes first? Verify the customer concern and check service information/TSBs. Research before any repair.
  2. Vehicle pulls right only when braking. Most likely? Left front caliper not applying (seized piston or restricted hose). The side with weaker braking lets the vehicle pull to the other side.
  3. Pedal pulsation and steering wheel shake when braking? Front rotor thickness variation. Steering wheel shake points to the fronts.
